Chromates and Conversion Coatings

Cadmium, Zinc, and zinc alloy coatings are usually deposited on ferrous substrates to enhance their bulk properties and protect them from corrosion. Accu-Labs provides suitable coating combinations for a wide range of applications and fulfills global automotive OEM requirements. Several post-treatments can be also combined in order to achieve different colors and higher corrosion resistance.

Accu-Labs 511 is a trivalent black passivate solution that is completely free of hexavalent chromium and contains no metal complexing compounds that impede waste treatment. ACCU-LABS 511 produces an attractive uniform black passivation film on zinc deposits plated from barrel or rack production lines. The Accu-Labs 511 black finish provides excellent corrosion protection equal to or exceeding old hex-black passivates.

The coating is abrasion-resistant and lends itself to good paint adhesion.

Accu-Labs 982A

Accu-Labs 982A is a chromium-based blend of acid salts that was developed to produce a gold iridescent chemical film on aluminum. 982A will also give a clear chromate film on aluminum if used at a lower concentration and shorter time cycles. It gives excellent corrosion protection and provides a good adhesive bond for paint. Accu-Labs 982A conversion coating meets current military specifications: MIL-5541B-Class 1A, Class 3 and MIL-DTL-81706 Type 1, class 1A form 2 method C and Type 1, class 3 method C. This material is the same as the material listed on the QPL list and meets Specification ASTM D-1730 for Type B, Method 7.

Accu-Labs 615

Accu-Labs 615 Aluminum Dichromate is a dry, granular compound which, when dissolved in water, forms a solution for chromating aluminum and aluminum alloys. The chromate coating formed is a light yellow to brown and has excellent corrosion resistance. It provides a good base for adherent paint coatings. This chromate process for aluminum meets the requirements of Military Specification MIL-C-5541.
